Community work
It’s not about ticking boxes – we’re out there getting involved, doing our bit.
You don’t work with as many charities as we do without feeling the urge to contribute.
Our clients in the third sector, charities and not-for-profit organisations, do amazing work making real differences in the lives of people in our community and around the world. That’s inspiring. Here, you’ll find information on everything we do to try to live up to the example they set.
Sharing expertise at board level
We know that charities and community bodies benefit from the input of professionals when it comes to governance and management. That’s why…
- Matthew Tyson sits on the Board for Crawley Town Centre Business Improvement District and is on the Executive Council for Gatwick Diamond Business.
- Darren Harding chairs the Gatwick Diamond Charity Group and sits on the Gatwick Diamond ‘Inspire’ group.
- Philip Hayden acts as treasurer for Crawley Chamber of Commerce and Crawley & Gatwick Business Watch.
- Karen Corduff is a trustee of her local League of Friends.
Working with youth and local careers
We take time out as a firm to attend careers events within the local community. This is about helping young people make informed and educated decisions on their future – and, of course, opening up the accountancy profession as an option. Each year we also provide several weeks’ of practical work experience.
Matthew Tyson has also contributed to the Young Enterprise Scheme and a recent initiative called Young Start Up Talent.
Minimizing environmental impact
Climate change is a pressing issue and we are committed to ensuring Richard Place Dobson takes every opportunity to reduce energy usage and make positive contributions, both locally and with global warming in mind.
Diversity and inclusivity
We are committed to being an inclusive organisation, promoting equality and diversity through recognising the benefits of a diverse workforce and welcoming clients from all backgrounds.
Who we support
We’re supporting Holistic Wellness Community 24/25Â
As a firm our team chooses one local charity to support each year. We then focus our fundraising activities on them –quiz evenings, footgolf tournaments, Iron Man and triathlon challenges and sponsored sleep outs.Â
This year’s charity, Holistic Wellness Community, is a community based charity that aims to offer free holistic therapies to support individuals wellbeing and mental health. Â
